House of Hope & Light (“HHL”) is a drug centre cum old folks home set up by the founder of Rumah Caring Kajang(RCK) Ms. Wendy Yap to help the rehabilitated/rehabilitating drug addicts to turn a new leaf of life. For the rehabilitated inmates, they will be caring for the old folks and at the same time, contribute back to the society in an environment which will be conducive and harmonious.
Ms. Yap came across this abandoned factory in middle of 2012 and found this an excellent spot for another satellite centre for RCK. It is not only located away from the main road but also confined in an industrial area which is gated with better security. However, it was run down and required extensive renovations to put the home up before it could open its doors to the needy.
As they seek sponsors for various tasks to be accomplished, Putra Perdana Construction Sdn Bhd (PPC) came to their aid in providing tiling work for the ground area so that the hall and space around the building can be turned into comfortable area for resting and interactive activities.
Together with the help from our subcontractor Intigra Sdn Bhd, we tiled up the entire ground floor in 2 weeks in October 2012 and now, the home is in operation and opened its door to the less fortunate.
The Green Lecture Tour was conducted in the newly completed auditorium in the Faculty of Built Environment.
Before Renovation: Side of the factory which meant to be converted into a recycling centre
Before Renovation: Once tiled up properly, this will be additional accommodation area for the old folks
Before Renovation: The original cemented hall area which needed tiling for easy cleaning and maintenance.
